Alexis Marie Rivera, of Wallingford in New Haven County, is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and reckless driving, police said.

The alleged incident happened on Oct. 8 after a 911 call reported a man lying on the pavement behind a bar, bleeding from his head, Wallingford Police said. Authorities did not release his name.

Paramedics took him to a local hospital, but the extent of his injuries was so severe that he was transferred to a different hospital more equipped to handle trauma cases.

Wallingford detectives reviewed surveillance footage in the area where they found the man.

They found footage of the man gripping the hood of a black Chevrolet Camaro, Wallingford Officer Alex Torres said.

“Rivera was driving with the victim on the hood of the Camaro at a high rate of speed," Torres wrote. "While the Camaro was in motion, the victim fell off the hood and hit the pavement, where he lays motionless. Rivera momentarily glanced down at the victim, then fled the scene.”

A judge ordered Rivera held on a $250,000 bond, authorities said.
